We’ve been unimpressed with the way traditional Private Equity (“PE”) treat investors. A relationship that involves the PE fund charging 2% management fees on each dollar committed, ~$1 million transaction fees each time they complete a deal, portfolio monitoring fees totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars each year, and quick sales to generate incentive fees of 20% of the profits. We set our incentives differently. We look to do well with investors, not off them.
The goal of U&I is simple: Allow investors to earn above average financial returns with low risk for a long time. In addition, we endeavor to create good homes for businesses, investors, and portfolio company employees.

We recognize that selling your business is an important life milestone. Both price and continuity of culture are important considerations. We endeavor to meet both criteria by offering fair prices as well as treating all employees, customers, and stakeholders extremely well under our stewardship.
